A Word from the Head of School
It has been great to enter into the Spring season, minus all the allergies, and to see the life coming back into the lawns, trees, and gardens around town. Spring has the ability to offer us such a vivid picture and imagery of one of the most rich recallings we have within our Christian faith, that being the resurrection of Christ. As we are rounding into this Easter season, I’m reminded of one of my favorite lines….”There cannot be a resurrection without a death.” This is what is seen each Spring, trees and vegetations once frail and bare now coursing with vibrancy and life. This is the true paradox of the Kingdom of God, as well. Each death can lead to a resurrection. Jesus modeled it for us to carry as well.
There are many deaths that we will face, some big and some small. Sometimes it’s unmet expectations, disagreements, not getting your way, the inconvenience of an accident or mishap, failing grades, or lack of expected participation in an event to name a few. Other times, it can be something life altering an unexpected diagnosis, betrayal from someone close, forced transition in life you weren’t ready for, firing from a job, even death itself. Any of these situations can either defeat us or lead the way to a resurrection moving forward, within the power and care of Jesus.
My prayer is that this beautiful paradox is noticed and acknowledged in your life, whether past or current, and that it leads the way to further celebrate God’s goodness before us and within us.
Grace and peace,
Skyler Sikes
