A Note from Mr. Burris
Hey BCS Family,
As we enter this season of gratitude, I am reminded once again how often Scripture calls us to give thanks for the goodness of God. Biblically thankful people understand that the Lord is at work even when difficulties come our way. Our gratitude isn’t contingent on our circumstances.
Paul writes in 1 Thessalonians 5:16–18, “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” Notice that he does not say to give thanks for all circumstances, but in them. How can we do that? By casting our gaze upon the One who promises to be with us even though we walk through the valley of the shadow of death. The valley might still be a reality, but having the Great Shepherd with us through the midst of it makes all of the difference in the world. Trusting in God’s sovereignty is the soil in which a truly thankful heart grows.
At our school, we have many things to be thankful for as we see the goodness of God lived out in countless small but meaningful ways every day:
- Students who pause to pray before a test or a meal.
- Teachers who speak words of encouragement to a struggling learner.
- Coaches who focus as much on character as they do the win column with their athletes.
- Parents who serve, support, and partner with us in shaping young hearts and minds.
- Moments when our community gathers—whether in chapel, classrooms, or special events—to acknowledge God’s work among us.
These are not just habits; they are testimonies. I am reminded of great quote I came across from Matthew Henry:
“Thanksgiving is good, but thanks-living is better.”
May gratitude be the lens through which we see our days and thankfulness guide our steps. When challenges arise, may we remember that God is present. When blessings come, may we celebrate them with humility and joy. And in all things, may we model for our students what it means to live with thankful hearts, anchored in Christ.

Can you believe the holiday season is already here? With nearly one semester behind us and Thanksgiving and Christmas on the horizon, it’s the perfect time to pause and reflect on God’s faithfulness to Brazosport Christian School. We are excited to launch< BCS Holiday Giving 2025: For His Glory.
This campaign is a celebration of God’s faithfulness and an opportunity for our school family to give back for His glory alone. Together, we seek to support the essential needs of Brazosport Christian School so that every student may continue to grow in knowledge, character, leadership, and service, all to the glory of God.
Our Holiday Giving campaign will culminate on Giving Tuesday, December 2. We invite every family to prayerfully consider how God may be leading you to participate. We are believing God for a big goal – $50,000 – and we’re encouraging 100% participation from our school family! Whether your gift is $5 or $5,000, every contribution makes a meaningful and lasting impact on our students and the mission of Brazosport Christian School.
All funds raised will support the BCS Fund, which directly supports the essential operations and daily life of our school. Gifts to this fund help us maintain academic excellence, enhance the student experience, meet departmental needs, support building improvements, equip our faculty, strengthen campus security, and plan wisely for the future God is shaping for us.
Be on the lookout over the coming weeks as we share the many ways God is moving at BCS. Thank you for prayerfully considering how your family can be part of BCS Holiday Giving 2025 and Giving Tuesday.
