A Note from Mr. Burris
We’ve almost made it—the finish line is in sight! As we approach the end of the school year, we can say with confidence that God has been faithful to us at Brazosport Christian School.
I want to encourage you to take time to look back and recognize the many ways the Lord has been at work—blessing your family, your children, and our faculty and staff. Counting our blessings isn’t just a nice idea; it’s a vital practice as we prepare to close out another year.
As you know, our theme this year has been “For His Glory.” Our aim has been to fix our eyes on Christ during this season of transition and to live each day faithfully for His name’s sake. One of the most meaningful ways we honor Him is by intentionally remembering His goodness.
In Psalm 103, we’re reminded:
“Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits…”
We see a powerful picture of this in the book of Joshua. After years in the wilderness, the Israelites faced a new chapter. Though Moses was no longer with them, God remained faithful. He raised up Joshua to lead His people, and once again, He performed a miracle—parting the Jordan River so they could cross on dry ground.
But what happened next is especially important. God instructed them to take twelve stones from the riverbed and set them up as a memorial. Why? So that when future generations asked, “What do these stones mean?” they would remember and tell the story of God’s faithfulness.
They were called not just to experience God’s work—but to remember it, and to pass it on.
I like how Billy Graham once put it,
“When we remember God’s faithfulness in the past, it gives us strength for the future.”
As you navigate these final weeks of school, I encourage you to take time to remember—perhaps around the dinner table—to reflect together on what the Lord has done this year. Name those moments. Celebrate them. Share them with your children.
Let’s finish this year with grateful hearts, remembering all He has done—for His glory.
With gratitude,
Cody Burris
Interim Head of School
