With Thanksgiving Break behind us, we are off and enjoying being in the classroom again!  We have a lot going on over the next few weeks as we approach our middle of the year point and Christmas Break.  This year is going by fast, and we are enjoying every minute of it!

JH Drama students gathered for a Murder Mystery Party
Our JH Drama students gathered for a Murder Mystery Party in the school cafeteria a few weeks ago, and it was a complete hit!  Thank you so much to Mr. Cowan for hosting this fun event for our students!  They are working now on the Christmas Drama Play that will be performed on December 9th.

Storytelling during the Preschool through 1st grade Thanksgiving feast celebrations. Pre-k through First Grades this year celebrated Thanksgiving by having a feast shared with parents and grandparents. Pre-k and kindergarten set up in the cafeteria and had a Charlie Brown Thanksgiving Feast, while First grade students celebrated in their classroom with a feast and by reading a book about Thanksgiving.

If you haven’t visited the school in a while, be sure to stop in and see the Murals that the High School art class has been working so hard to put up! Great job!

Prior to the Thanksgiving break, several staff members bundled up and played a fast paced soccer game with our new BCS Soccer Team. Although it was a tough match, the staff members won 1-0, however, there were lots of tylenol, wrapping joints, and resting for staff members after the game! In any case, way to go BCS soccer team, we are excited to see you soar this year!

What’s going on at BCS!

Our secondary students have been collecting items for the Food Basket to help with those in need this holiday season.  Below you’ll see a few students packing up the items and getting them ready to be delivered and sent out into our local community.  You’ll also see that our kids have a sense of humor as they built towers out of the items right before we packaged them up.  Way to go Eagles for helping the community and for having fun while doing it!  You make a difference!

ASVAB Testing

Each year our 10th through 12th grade students participate in the ASVAB testing provided by the United States Military. The test results help the students to learn about their strengths and interests which in turn guide them in their decision making for college and career opportunities. The results will be given to the students just before our on campus career and college fair to be held on January 31st. We intend the career fair, available to all high school students, to be used to ask questions about career paths they are interested in going into. If you’d like to help out with the fair, please feel free to contact our college counselor Phillip Piper at ppiper@1bcs.org.

Just as our high school students are introduced to career paths and college readiness through the ASVAB test, our 8th graders get to attend the Jr. Achievement Career Fair at Brazosport College each year. This educational opportunity allows them to be exposed to a variety of career paths and the skills needed to pursue them. It’s a wonderful opportunity for our students to walk a college campus and get a glimpse of college life. Thank you Junior Achievement of Brazoria County for taking the time with our 8th graders and exploring careers!

The Season of Thanksgiving

The Season of Thanksgiving

Written by Anna Magallanes, Director of Development

It seems like the start of the school year was just a short few days ago, but here we are approaching the Thanksgiving break.  For Thanksgiving week, I pray that you are able to take the time to be with family and friends and immerse yourself in what you are thankful for.  I challenge you to take an “I’m thankful for” quiet break each day of Thanksgiving week to pray and give thanks to God for all that he has blessed you with.  At BCS we are thankful beyond measure that you have chosen us as your school of choice and are so appreciative that you share your beautiful family with us.  May your Thanksgiving be blessed and may you come back to school filled with His Spirit!

Here’s what’s going on at BCS!

Doralee Ramons, former Veteran for the US Navy is sharing her experience with our first graders.
Doralee Ramos, Veteran from the United States Navy, sharing her experience with 1st Grade.
First grade had the opportunity to hear from one of our very own Doralee Ramos who is a Veteran from the United States Navy.

If you didn’t hear it on Veteran’s day, BCS wants to take the time to say Thank You to all Veterans for your sacrifices for our freedom.  Our first grade had the opportunity to hear from one of our very own Doralee Ramos who is a Veteran from the United States Navy.  As you can see our students were very excited to hear about her story and what it was like working on a ship.  Friday November 11, we encouraged all students and staff to dress in camo for school and for the game to remember Veterans, and we honored them with recognition at halftime.

Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes Service Project - 5th Graders praying over the shoeboxes that will make their way to kids around the world.Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes is something BCS participates in every year, below you’ll see our fifth graders pray over the shoeboxes. Each year Samaritan’s Purse sends thousands of filled shoeboxes to children all over the world. Each child also participates in a discipleship program where many receive salvation. We are grateful for the opportunity to take part in such a massive global ministry. Our students did a great job by filling over 125 boxes.

Giving Tuesday this year is November 22nd. Created in 2012, it’s a day set aside for giving, whether it be your time or donation, it’s a movement to inspire giving to others. This Tuesday, please take the time to make a difference, make someone smile, help a neighbor, or donate to your favorite local charity. If you are interested in making a donation to Brazosport Christian School, or know someone who is, please use the button below to make your donation! This link will be available for donations through the end of November. Thank you for all that you do for our school!!

We are excited to be hosting our first Career and College fair on January 31st! We are hosting several local area parents, office holders, and business owners to speak to our high school students about what it took to get into their career path. If you are interested in helping out please contact Phillip Piper at ppiper@1bcs.org.
