Brazosport Christian School

Elementary

Welcome to Elementary

Our dedicated and highly qualified teachers go above and beyond to ensure that each student receives personalized attention and support, fostering a love for learning and intellectual growth at an early age. We are able to do this with small classroom size, and an engaging curriculum that creates a learning environment that establishes Godly character traits, promotes academic growth; and, not just challenges each student to learn, but to master what is being taught.

Class Size

Class size ranges from 16 to 21 students. BCS implements the aid of instructional support staff based on the unique needs and dynamics of each classroom.

Curriculum

Our campus utilizes the Bob Jones curriculum from PK3-8th grade. All academic content is provided to our students through a Biblical worldview. The fully biblically integrated curriculum provides our students and teachers with a unique learning experience where love for the Lord and excitement for learning converge. The continuity of curriculum across grade levels provides students and teachers with vertical and horizontal alignment allowing for consistent learning objectives and clear expectations from grade to grade.

Core Subjects

Math, Science, Social Studies, Bible, Language Arts, Spelling, Physical Education, and Chapel held weekly

Electives

All elementary students engage in a wide variety of elective courses on a weekly basis. Students rotate through Art, Missions, Library, Music, Spanish (2nd – 5th grade). Students also have the opportunity to engage in our Reading Rangers program and Chess Club.

Technology

While BCS values the exposure to and usage of technology in the classroom at an elementary level, we advocate a hands-on kinesthetic approach to learning. Our teachers utilize technology to bolster instruction and a computer lab is available for classes of all ages to utilize.

Field Trips

Field trips are coordinated to coincide with the lesson being taught for a hands-on experience. Past field trips have included:

  • NASA in Clear Lake (Earth and Space Science)
  • Captain Shish-ka-Bob Angleton (Texas Agriculture)
  • George Ranch in Richmond, Texas (early Texans)

Parent volunteers are always invited to participate in field trips.

Standardized Tests

In order to gauge our national academic standings and hold ourselves to a higher standard BCS utilizes the IOWA assessment. We administer the nationally normed assessment in 4th and 7th grade. The results are never used to influence grade level placement. We utilize the assessment results to inform our classroom instruction, identify potential curriculum gaps and monitor the academic growth of our students.

BCS Serves Day

Twice a year our entire campus has the opportunity to serve our local community in various ways. BCS students engage in servant leadership as the hands and feet of Christ working alongside local nonprofits, other schools, churches, and fundraising endeavors.
