Teachers, Class Size & Curriculum

BCS’s dedicated teachers, small classroom size, and engaging curriculum creates a learning environment that establishes Godly character traits, promotes academic growth; and, not just challenges each student to learn, but to master what is being taught.

Class Size

Class size range from 14 to 16 students. BCS has two teacher aides on staff that rotate and provide support when needed. The small class size and added support allows teachers to focus on their highest priority— your child.

Curriculum

Each subject is taught from a Biblical standpoint. Textbooks and instructional materials are carefully selected to support our goal of maintaining high standards of excellence in academics. Lesson plans are designed to interact and engage the students so they have a deeper and broader understanding of the subject areas. Lesson plans may include projects, experiments, class speakers and field trips to help the lessons come alive for the purpose of academic enrichment. To find out more about curriculum and the grade scale, visit Academics.

Core Subjects

The core subjects are Bible, Language Arts, Math, Science, Physical Education, and Social Studies. Chapel is held weekly.

Elective

Electives include Computer, Spanish, Library, Art, and Music.

Technology

BCS understands the importance of equipping our students for the future. BCS students begin computer classes as soon as Kindergarten. Instruction is held once a week, which utilizes Beyond Technology Education. The lesson plans are designed to facilitate the class progress in technology skill level at the appropriate grade level.

Field Trips

Field trips are coordinated to coincide with the lesson being taught for a hands-on experience. Past field trips have included: NASA in Clear Lake (Earth and Space Science) Captain Shish-ka-Bob Angleton (Texas Agriculture) George Ranch in Richmond, Texas (early Texans)

5th Grade Class Trip

Fifth grade goes on an annual retreat, which is typically three days in length — to build unity within the class, provide opportunities for students to build confidence, develop trust, and to experience the love of Christ in an energizing, fun-filled, Christ-centered atmosphere. All class members are required to attend.

Enrichment

BCS is proud to offer Spanish beginning in 3rd grade as part of its dedication to enriching students.

Standardized Tests

BCS utilizes the Iowa Assessment, which is taken by each student in Spring from Kindergarten through 6th grade. This helps BCS evaluate the progress of each student.

Service Projects

Each year, each class gives back by serving their community by planning and preparing two service projects per school year.
