A Note from Mr. Burris
September is already here and we are hitting our stride at Brazosport Christian School! I have been talking with many of our teachers and students and there is a very positive outlook on campus as we are now in the full swing of things. One of the exciting points of emphasis has been the gazing upon the God of Bible as a faculty, and then passing what we see to our student body.
Our admin team has been working through Knowing God by J.I. Packer and one of the things he really emphasizes early on in this book is the importance of relationally knowing God even as you dive into the Bible and learn about God. Packer stresses a vital truth in the first two chapters: it’s not enough to simply learn about God—we are called to know Him personally and relationally. This truth is foundational to our mission at BCS. As we pursue academic and spiritual growth, we seek not only to grow in knowledge about God but to grow in relationship with Him.
The English Puritan Stephen Charnock (1628–1680) put it this way:
“A speculative knowledge of God, without the heart’s engagement, is a barren thing.”
Please join us in praying for the students of BCS. Specifically, pray for those who have not yet come to saving faith in Christ—that God would open their eyes and hearts to the gospel. And for those who already know Him, pray for continued spiritual growth—both in their relationship with Christ and in their understanding of the truth revealed in Scripture.
Here’s a powerful reminder from Scripture about the impact Jesus has on the sinner who turns to Christ and comes to know Him as Savior and Lord:
Philippians 3:7–8
“But whatever gain I had, I counted as loss for the sake of Christ. Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord…”
May this be the heartcry of the students at BCS this year!
As always, let’s behold our God together and rejoice in the privilege of knowing Him—made possible through the saving work of Jesus Christ.

Thank You!!
Over the past few weeks, BCS has had the privilege of hosting two volleyball tournaments, and both were a huge success! We couldn’t have done it without YOU. Whether you worked the ticket table, served in concessions, stocked the hospitality room, or cheered from the stands, we are so grateful. Thank you for supporting our student-athletes and making these events possible!
