Mission Mindedness

The most important aspect that sets us apart is our mission mindedness. Every part of our day begins and ends with Jesus. Our children experience the love of Christ through interactions with their teachers and classmates everyday. We endeavour to support the families of our students as much as the students because we believe our ministry here extends into the homes of each of our children.

Curriculum

Our preschool utilizes the Bob Jones curriculum, which is fully Biblically integrated and academically sound. In using the same curriculum as our upper grades our students are prepared and equipped with the confidence they need in order to be successful in the coming grade levels.

Reading Scope and Sequence

We have created a sight word scope and sequence that flows from PK3 to 2nd grade allowing our teachers to be vertically aligned and prepared as beginning readers who then develop into readers who enjoy reading! By the time they enter Kindergarten our preschoolers know at least 40 sight words.

Fine Arts

Another unique aspect is that our preschool students participate in all the fine arts classes on a weekly basis — art, music, missions, and library.

Meet Our Amazing Preschool Team

Our preschool teachers are ACSI certified or working toward completion. They have various backgrounds concerning education and experience, which lends to a dynamic group of teachers who share fresh and innovative teaching methods and strategies with one another.

Mrs. Garcia< Teacher

Mrs. Garcia

Teacher

Mrs. Garcia began her journey in high school in a preschool lab school. She has been an early childhood educator for 30+ years. She studied early childhood education at Brazosport College, where she received an Early Childhood Director’s Certificate. Mrs. Garcia continued to pursue her career and became a preschool director and trainer. Extending her passion for seeing children grow and learn about a Christ-centered world, she devoted herself to children’s ministry for 9 years before returning to education at Brazosport Christian School. In the words of Mrs. Garcia, “I love seeing my littles get excited about learning.”

Mrs. Mulligan< Teacher

Mrs. Mulligan Teacher

Mrs. Mulligan has been married for 13 years and has three children: one girl and two boys. She genuinely loves preschoolers and the opportunity to teach them. The Lord has graciously grown her passion for the preschool environment and the importance of instilling a foundation of identity in Christ. The children are what she loves about teaching preschool; “They are happy to learn, they live each day without regret and full of wonder, and everything is new and exciting in their world.” Mrs. Mulligan looks forward to seeing them grow in “their independence, their confidence in the abilities God has given each of them, and fostering an environment for building relationships, not only with the students as their teacher but also friendships with their peers.”

Mrs. Perez has been married to her husband for 17 years. They have two children together, a 15-year-old son and an 11-year-old daughter. They both attend BCS. Mrs. Perez also has two bonus children. She has a 21-year-old son who lives in Houston. She also has a 25-year-old daughter who lives in Childress with her husband, who are expecting their first baby this summer.
Mrs. Perez was formerly a stay-at-home mom until her kids got older. She knew working with young children would be precisely what she was looking for and where she hoped God would place her. “Preschoolers have been the most enjoyable age to work with; they are full of humor, kindness, empathy for each other, and honesty.” Mrs. Perez loves these qualities about them. She hopes to encourage “a love of the Lord and all the wonderful ways He cares for us.”

Mrs. Hutcherson married her best friend in 2009, and they have two beautiful daughters, who are 10 and 3 years old. The Hutchinson family joined the BCS community in 2023 and have been on an amazing journey. She enjoys being around children, watching them light up when they learn something new, and celebrating their milestones. Mrs. Hutchinson insightfully shares, “It can be a big transition for the student and their parents during their first years attending school.” And Mrs. Hutchinson is passionate about helping make it as smooth and enjoyable as possible.
