What’s going on at BCS!
Our secondary students have been collecting items for the Food Basket to help with those in need this holiday season. Below you’ll see a few students packing up the items and getting them ready to be delivered and sent out into our local community. You’ll also see that our kids have a sense of humor as they built towers out of the items right before we packaged them up. Way to go Eagles for helping the community and for having fun while doing it! You make a difference!
Drama Mystery Party
Jr. High art students had a blast and practiced leadership skills as they taught and assisted elementary students with Thanksgiving projects.
ASVAB Testing
Each year our 10th through 12th grade students participate in the ASVAB testing provided by the United States Military. The test results help the students to learn about their strengths and interests which in turn guide them in their decision making for college and career opportunities. The results will be given to the students just before our on campus career and college fair to be held on January 31st. We intend the career fair, available to all high school students, to be used to ask questions about career paths they are interested in going into. If you’d like to help out with the fair, please feel free to contact our college counselor Phillip Piper at ppiper@1bcs.org.
Just as our high school students are introduced to career paths and college readiness through the ASVAB test, our 8th graders get to attend the Jr. Achievement Career Fair at Brazosport College each year. This educational opportunity allows them to be exposed to a variety of career paths and the skills needed to pursue them. It’s a wonderful opportunity for our students to walk a college campus and get a glimpse of college life. Thank you Junior Achievement of Brazoria County for taking the time with our 8th graders and exploring careers!
PTF
Thanksgiving is here and we are Thankful for so many things that it would be impossible to list. This week one of the things we’re definitely thankful for is the delicious feast prepared and served with love to our teachers and staff from our PTF. Lunch was INCREDIBLE, but it was also a time for congratulations to several of our teachers for winning mini grants for their classrooms provided by the PTF! Congratulations to Grant winners Patty Wied, Carol Boyd, Shannon Sanders, Samantha Garcia, and Laura Sandler!

Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes is something BCS participates in every year, below you’ll see our fifth graders pray over the shoeboxes. Each year Samaritan’s Purse sends thousands of filled shoeboxes to children all over the world. Each child also participates in a discipleship program where many receive salvation. We are grateful for the opportunity to take part in such a massive global ministry. Our students did a great job by filling over 125 boxes.

Just a few short weeks ago several of our students participated in the Brazoria County Fair. We have such talented students of all ages, and it’s definitely exciting to see them shine in our local community. Sarah Heimeyer served as the Fair Queen candidate for Brazosport Christian School with Seth Henderson as her escort. Both part of the Class of 2023, Sarah intends to continue her education into Animal Science and is looking into Ranger and Wildlife Management after high school while Seth looks to attend Texas A&M University College Station and study Aerospace Engineering.
Sarah had the opportunity to represent our school and meet students from all over Brazoria County by delivering awards to some of the placing participants. Award winning can be an emotionally happy time for participants and a beautiful picture was captured of this very experience. Thank you Sarah for being a vital part of BCS and taking the time to devote your volunteering and kindness to our local community.
Do you ever have those days where everything just works out perfectly? Well Mrs. Menard’s Preschool class definitely had one of those days recently when every single child (and the teacher) wore a shade of purple!! After googling the meaning of the color purple it states that it represents power and ambition among other great things! I think this class is definitely headed into leadership! Preschool also recently did the great pumpkin drop as they dropped pumpkins to learn about gravity.

BCS Serve Day
With the help of our local community, we were able to go out and teach our students the importance of taking the time to help others. Every student ranging from Preschool through 12th grade participated in cleaning, collecting trash, weeding flower beds, re-doing bulletin boards, painting lockers, sorting food products, picking fresh vegetables, learning what is all involved in horse maintenance and SO MUCH MORE! This is truly one of the favorite days for BCS! If you know of a place in need of volunteer work, please feel free to contact the school, we are always looking for more places to volunteer. We visited the locations listed below and had so much fun serving our community.
